Delivered by business, for business, the Greater Essex Business Board continues to strengthen its leadership as it works to build a stronger economy for the region.

Essex County Council, Southend-on-Sea City Council and Thurrock Council are pleased to confirm the appointment of three new members to the Board.

The Greater Essex Business Board represents the voice of the private sector and helps shape economic policy across the area. Members advise political decision makers and support the region to thrive.

New Members

Stuart Rimmer – CEO, Thames Freeport

Steve Mannix – Chief Executive, Mercury Theatre

Andrew Taylor – Group Planning and Sustainability Director, Vistry

About the Board

The responsibilities of the Greater Essex Business Board include:

  • Being the voice of business for the area
  • Informing economic strategy
  • Making the region stand out, compete and attract investment
  • Shaping the local skills programme with the Essex Chambers of Commerce
  • Advising on infrastructure priorities
  • Overseeing the provision of future Government programmes

The Board meets four times a year to shape essential economic policies and works closely with partners from local authorities and other business forums. Between meetings, members act as ambassadors for Greater Essex, influencing their networks and feeding business intelligence back to the Board.

The addition of Stuart, Steve and Andrew strengthens the Board’s breadth of expertise at a pivotal time for the Greater Essex economy.
