Who are Monitor Audio Group?

Monitor Audio Group is the UK’s largest independently owned British loudspeaker and audio electronics manufacturer, founded in 1972 and headquartered in Essex, England. The company is known for designing and engineering high-performance audio products that combine advanced materials, precision acoustics, and contemporary industrial design.

From its beginnings as a specialist loudspeaker brand, Monitor Audio Group has grown into an international manufacturer with products sold in 100 countries. Its portfolio spans premium high-fidelity loudspeakers, architectural speakers, electronics and amplification, turntables, and hi-fi furniture.

Monitor Audio is part of the Monitor Audio Group, which also includes Roksan, a British electronics brand known for amplifiers and turntables, and Blok, a design-led furniture and equipment-support brand. Together, the group delivers complete audio systems from source and amplification to loudspeakers and furniture.

The company’s reputation is built on a strong engineering ethos, particularly its long-standing use of advanced metal-cone driver technologies – pioneered for close to 40-years, precision cabinet construction, and rigorous acoustic measurement. Its products are designed and engineered in the UK (with its statement speakers and electronics being hand built in Essex) and designed to deliver accurate, engaging sound across both residential and commercial environments.

Today, Monitor Audio is recognised globally as a British premium audio brand, blending technical innovation, material science, and modern design to create loudspeakers for music and cinema enthusiasts alike.

What have you been up to in 2025?

In 2025, Monitor Audio Group has focused on a combination of new product development, brand experience, and global engagement.

The year has seen the introduction of several new loudspeaker and electronics designs, reflecting the company’s continued commitment to engineering-led innovation, advanced materials, and refined industrial design. These launches have strengthened Monitor Audio’s core hi-fi, custom-install, and home-cinema categories, while also supporting the broader Monitor Audio Group portfolio.

A major strategic project throughout the year has been the development of the company’s new Experience Centre. Designed as a centre of excellence, the facility brings together demonstration suites, product showcases, and training environments under one roof. It is intended to give partners, customers, and industry professionals a deeper understanding of the brand’s engineering philosophy, acoustic principles, and system design approach.

At the heart of the Experience Centre is the Elevate Sound Performance Academy. This is a dedicated training and education platform created to support distributors, retailers, integrators, and consultants. The programme focuses on practical, performance-driven learning, covering areas such as acoustic fundamentals, system matching, loudspeaker positioning, room interaction, and real-world installation techniques. The aim is not only to demonstrate products, but to build expertise and confidence in delivering genuinely high-fidelity experiences for end customers.

Alongside these developments, Monitor Audio Group has maintained a strong global presence throughout 2025. The company has participated in major international trade exhibitions, including large-scale industry shows in Barcelona, while also supporting a wide range of consumer events across the United States, Europe, and Asia in partnership with its distribution network. These events have provided opportunities to showcase new products, strengthen relationships with partners, and engage directly with enthusiasts and professionals around the world.

Overall, 2025 has been a year defined by innovation, education, and global connection, combining new product introductions with a significant investment in brand experience and partner development.

Do you think Essex is a good place for business? If so, why?

Yes. Essex offers an excellent balance of skilled engineering and manufacturing talent, with strong (and improving) transport links to London, and Europe, and a supportive business environment. For Monitor Audio Group, it allows us to design, engineer, train, and host international partners from a single, well-connected headquarters.

What separates Monitor Audio from other audio/speaker providers?

Our difference lies in our engineering-led approach. We design products through rigorous research, measurement, and material science, supported by contemporary industrial design – and all in-house. We outsource virtually no R&D and offer an almost ‘full-stack, tier-one manufacturer’ setup (with 15 members of staff on-site in a factory that predominately manufacturers solely for Monitor Audio in China). As Monitor Audio Group, we also offer a complete system approach, combining loudspeakers, electronics, and furniture through Monitor Audio, Roksan, and Blok, allowing partners to deliver fully integrated high-fidelity solutions to their customers and sales channels.

How can Essex County Council help with the growth of Monitor Audio?

Continued support for advanced manufacturing, skills development, and training initiatives is key. Investment in local talent pipelines, technical education, and infrastructure helps companies like ours attract and retain skilled people, host international partners, and grow our global export business from Essex.

What would be the ultimate achievement in the eyes of Monitor Audio?

To be recognised globally as the reference for high-fidelity performance and system design, delivering products and experiences that connect people with music and film, while building a strong, sustainable business that continues to design and engineer world-class audio from Essex.
