Sensore is revolutionising pressure ulcer prevention for wheelchair users and social care. It is a smart-fabric sensor mat that continuously monitors, predicts and prevents pressure ulcers before they form – addressing a £2.6 billion a year problem for the NHS. Sensore is designed to support independence, improve comfort and empower better care decisions at home, in clinical settings, or on the go.
In 2025, Sensore transitioned from development to commercial and regulatory execution. We were granted our first core patent, raised £580k through grant and equity funding, secured our first paid commercial pilots, and were awarded funding for our clinical study to start in 2026. Supporting this momentum, our team has grown significantly – with key hires in regulatory, clinical and commercial leadership.
In 2026, focus will be on clinical validation, certification and commercial scale-up. This includes delivery of a clinical usability study with the Rehabilitation Engineering Unit at NHS Cardiff, alongside achieving Class I medical device certification. Commercial efforts will centre on converting existing paid pilots into long-term customers, while scaling production capability and operational readiness. These milestones position the business for a full commercial launch in early 2027. Our £950k EIS-approved seed fundraising round is now open, focused on 3 key milestones: 1) completion of a clinical usability study (supported by an NIHR i4i grant) 2) scale-up of production to fulfil the first paid commercial pilots across 15+ UK sites 3) full market entry by early 2027.

This grant is a really exciting opportunity for us, funding a collaboration with Prof. Janusz Kulon at University of South Wales to build a machine learning model for postural classification – accelerating development of our vision of truly personalised person-centred pressure ulcer prevention.
Sensore AI personalises risk detection by learning what is normal for each person and how they change over time, rather than relying on generic, one-off assessments. By quietly tracking day-to-day patterns and adapting as more data is collected, it can spot early warning signs that matter for that individual. This makes prevention more targeted and effective, reducing missed risks and unnecessary interventions, and ultimately supporting earlier action, better decisions and improved patient outcomes.
